Born Shane Michael Simon and steeped in the tradition of Cleveland rock, this 24-year-old has been at the game for well over 17 years. Singing before he was walking, Shane has run the gamut in both vocal and instrumental performance. From touring bands (former lead singer of Tin Pan Alley) to a solo act, he has always found a soulmate in music.
Being classically-trained on the piano, his musical journey began at the young age of seven receiving lessons from a Cleveland Philharmonic pianist. Continuing with some formal percussion and informal guitar training, he bridged out from the suburban shelter of Beachwood, Ohio, to college at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) and then onto Los Angeles. All the while, Simon's first love is singing, and his influences range from Dave Matthews, Chris Robinson, Lenny Kravitz and Adam Duritz to The Allman Brothers, Phish, Pearl Jam and Incubus. His music represents a smoothe blend of rock, funk, blues, folk, motown and down-n-dirty rockabilly.
Staking his flag in LA for over two years now, Shane tours the LA scene, making sporadic trips to Philadelphia, Boston, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Chicago to play satellite gigs. But, if you want to see him in person, find your way to LA and check out his upcoming dates.
His first solo release, "As She Sleeps," (released late August 2001) was a two-track CD single that swings from pop to rock with a hint of Southern blues. Accompanied by the lyrical genius of Cleveland-born Bryan Wynbrandt, Simon's acoustic guitar and voice ring true and both are sure to strike a chord within your musical soul.
In early April 2002, Shane released a five-track promotional album entitled "acoustic backstage pass." The album adds two more originals to the previously released "As She Sleeps" and also blends a five-part harmony rendition of Radiohead's classic, Karma Police.
